Lite Pei

Lite Pei has been a double bassist since 2013, playing at music festivals, private events, and orchestras worldwide. As a soloist, he has done several solo recitals in China and collaborated with world-known masters at many of the major music festivals, including the Beijing International Double Bass Festival with Klaus Trumpf, the Mittenwald Double Bass Camp, and the Sperger International Double Bass Competition with Jeff Bradetich. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with many prominent Chinese orchestras, including the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and China NCPA Orchestra, under some of the world’s leading music directors, such as Jia Lv, Lihua Tan, Tan Dun, and Long Yu.

Lite had his Bachelor degree in Double Bass Performance at the China Conservatory of Music, Beijing, and studied with the chair of the China Double Bass Association, Prof. Junxia Hou. Then he kept studying for his master degree in music in the U.S. since 2018 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the studio of the principal bassist of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Prof. Scott Pingel. Now he is finishing his degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Double Bass Performance at the University of Texas at Austin with Prof. Joel Braun.

During his studies, Lite has performed in master classes for distinguished orchestra, solo, and pedagogue bassists, including Christina Hoock, Jeffery Turner, Daxun Zhang, and Maximilian Dimoff.
