As Seraphic Fire closed its fiscal year on May 31, we did so with tremendous gratitude and optimism.
For the second consecutive year, Seraphic Fire finished the fiscal year with a balanced budget, an achievement that reflects disciplined financial stewardship, strong leadership, and the unwavering support of our audiences, donors, foundations, and community partners.
Just as importantly, this fiscal year was about far more than finances. It was a year of growth, momentum, and transformation that positioned Seraphic Fire for an exciting future while honoring the artistic legacy that brought us here.
A Year of Remarkable Growth
Throughout the 2025-2026 season, audiences responded enthusiastically to Seraphic Fire's programming across Miami, Coral Gables, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Miami Beach, and Naples.
Total ticket sales revenue increased by 36% over the prior season, making it one of the strongest box-office years in the organization's recent history. Subscription revenue also continued to grow, while the number of subscriber households increased by 33%.
Perhaps most exciting was the number of new listeners discovering Seraphic Fire for the first time. Nearly 1,000 first-time ticket buyers attended performances this season, introducing new audiences to live classical music and professional choral singing.
Growth was especially strong in Naples, where audience attendance doubled compared to the previous season. Programs such as American Folk, Gospel, Candlelight, and Surround Sound attracted enthusiastic audiences and reinforced Seraphic Fire's reputation as one of the nation's leading professional vocal ensembles.
These results demonstrate that demand for exceptional live music experiences remains strong and that Seraphic Fire continues to connect with audiences throughout South Florida.
Recognized by the Community We Serve
One of the most meaningful moments of the year came when Seraphic Fire was named the 2025 Miami Herald Miami-Dade Favorite Nonprofit.
Selected from more than 10,000 nonprofit organizations across the county, the recognition reflected not only artistic excellence but also the organization's commitment to education, community engagement, and service.
As a nonprofit organization, Seraphic Fire's mission extends far beyond the concert stage. Through educational residencies, student workshops, mentorship opportunities, the High School Professional Choral Institute, the Ensemble Artist Program, and other outreach initiatives, thousands of students experience the transformative power of music each year.
This award affirmed what so many supporters already know: Seraphic Fire is not simply presenting concerts. It is strengthening communities through music.
Honoring Patrick Dupre Quigley's Legacy
This fiscal year also marked the conclusion of an extraordinary chapter in Seraphic Fire's history.
After 23 seasons as Founder and Artistic Director, Patrick Dupre Quigley concluded his tenure leading the ensemble he founded in 2002. Through his vision, artistry, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Patrick transformed Seraphic Fire from a small South Florida choir into an internationally respected organization recognized for innovative programming, artistic excellence, and educational impact.
Under Patrick's leadership, Seraphic Fire earned national recognition, GRAMMY nominations, critical acclaim, and a reputation for presenting music that spans centuries while remaining deeply relevant to contemporary audiences.
While Patrick's role has changed, his relationship with Seraphic Fire continues. As Artistic Director Laureate, he remains an important part of the organization's future and will return to conduct One for All during the 2026-2027 season.
We are profoundly grateful for his leadership and lasting contributions.
Welcoming a New Artistic Era
As one chapter closes, another begins.
The upcoming season marks the first full season under Artistic Director James K. Bass, a GRAMMY Award-winning conductor who has been part of the Seraphic Fire family since its earliest years.
James brings a deep understanding of the organization's artistic identity along with fresh ideas and new creative energy. Audiences can expect the same commitment to world-class classical choral music that has defined Seraphic Fire for more than two decades, alongside thoughtful additions of modern and contemporary repertoire that broaden the artistic conversation.
The future of Seraphic Fire remains firmly rooted in artistic excellence while embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.
Looking Ahead
As we begin a new fiscal year, we do so from a position of strength.
We are grateful to our Board of Directors, led by Board Chair Diane Ashley, whose leadership and commitment continue to guide the organization forward. We are equally grateful for the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Danny M. Yanez, CFRE, whose vision, energy, and dedication have strengthened Seraphic Fire's financial foundation, expanded audiences, deepened community engagement, and positioned the organization for continued growth.
Most of all, we are grateful for a community that believes music matters.
Together, we have built something remarkable over the past 24 years. Together, we will continue building an even brighter future.
To everyone who attended a concert, made a gift, volunteered, subscribed, or introduced a friend to Seraphic Fire this year, thank you.
Your support helps bring extraordinary music to South Florida, creates life-changing educational opportunities for students, and strengthens one of the nation's premier professional vocal ensembles.
We look forward to welcoming you back for another unforgettable season.
