A New Artistic Chapter with GRAMMY Winner James Bass
The 2026–2027 season marks the first full season curated by Artistic Director James Bass, a GRAMMY Award-winning conductor whose longstanding relationship with Seraphic Fire brings both continuity and fresh perspective. A Season of Exceptional Repertoire
The season opens with Serenade to Music in October, a celebratory program that reflects the transition in artistic leadership while introducing works new to Seraphic Fire audiences.
November’s Blue Notes explores the rich harmonic language of American jazz standards made famous by Nat King Cole, Etta James, and Cole Porter, presented with a live jazz combo that brings a new dimension to the choral experience.
The holiday season returns with Noel: An Old-World Christmas, a candlelit tradition featuring beloved carols rooted in Medieval and Renaissance repertoire alongside seasonal favorites.
In January, One for All highlights the depth and resonance of the tenor and bass voices, presenting more than a thousand years of music written for men’s ensembles and revealing the power and warmth of the lower vocal ranges.
February’s Northern Lights captures a sense of stillness and wonder through luminous choral textures, including selections from Philip Glass’s groundbreaking work Einstein on the Beach and other contemporary works that explore atmosphere and reflection.
March brings American Poets, honoring voices recognized in the National Garden of American Heroes, with texts by Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and other literary icons whose words continue to shape American identity.
The season concludes in April with Misa Criolla, a vibrant fusion of Latin American musical traditions and classical form. This rhythmically compelling work blends choral writing with traditional Argentinian instruments, bringing the season to an energetic and memorable close.
