At Seraphic Fire, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. This past year, our organization demonstrated how a strong partnership between governance and leadership can create real impact. With Board Chair Diane Ashley and Executive Director Danny M. Yanez, CFRE, working together, Seraphic Fire not only navigated challenges but also achieved some of the most significant milestones in our history.
Complementary Strengths, Shared Purpose
The connection between a board chair and an executive director is one of the most important relationships in any nonprofit. At Seraphic Fire, that partnership has been defined by respect, transparency, and a shared commitment to the organization’s mission. Diane Ashley brings a strong background in the financial private sector, where she held senior leadership and management roles in major institutions in New York, Miami, and abroad. Her experience in banking, consulting, and strategic planning has given her a deep understanding of how to build sustainable organizations.
Danny, meanwhile, contributed expertise in fundraising and nonprofit transformation, drawing on his experience as a development professional and advocate for arts education. Together, they created an environment grounded in clear communication and mutual accountability.
Building a Culture of Trust and Action
Throughout the season, Diane and Danny’s partnership became a foundation that empowered staff, artists, and board members to work creatively and decisively. Their regular conversations and shared approach to problem-solving ensured that decisions were informed and timely.
This alignment showed up in every area of the organization. Individual fundraising reached new heights, thanks to strong relationships with supporters who believe in the importance of Seraphic Fire’s mission. New donors and reengaged lapsed supporters helped sustain programs and strengthen our focus on education as a core part of our nonprofit mission. Performances reflected a commitment to excellence and a belief in the power of live choral music to bring people together.
It was not only about hitting benchmarks or closing budgets. It was about modeling a leadership style that put collaboration and purpose at the center. From the boardroom to the concert hall, the atmosphere was defined by openness, respect, and shared investment in Seraphic Fire’s future.
Danny reflected on the year by saying, “Working alongside Diane has been incredibly rewarding. I am so grateful to have a partner I trust, whose insight and steady guidance have helped shape a culture where everyone feels supported to do their best work.”
Looking Ahead with Confidence
As Seraphic Fire moves into the 2025–26 season, the importance of strong leadership has never been clearer. In a time when arts organizations face funding uncertainty and increased competition for resources, having a board chair and executive director who work in close partnership is essential.
Diane’s strategic mindset and experience in the financial sector have complemented Danny’s focus on building relationships and strengthening operations. Together, they have shown that when governance and management are truly aligned, remarkable things can happen. Their partnership has helped Seraphic Fire close the year on strong financial footing, make education a deeper focus of our work, and present a season that inspired audiences across South Florida.
As an organization, we are grateful for the collective effort of our board, staff, artists, and supporters. The past year demonstrated that when people come together around a shared vision, it is possible to adapt, innovate, and grow. Looking ahead, Seraphic Fire is ready to build on this momentum and continue creating experiences that uplift and connect our community.
Together, Diane and Danny look forward to guiding Seraphic Fire into its next chapter of growth and artistic excellence.
To everyone who has believed in our mission and stood with us, thank you. Your support ensures that Seraphic Fire remains a vibrant and essential part of South Florida’s cultural landscape.
