Musician, theater artist, and educator Matthew Goinz is the Founding Artistic Director and Conductor of The Sound Between®, a storytelling ensemble dedicated to creating bold, inclusive, and original ensemble art that celebrates the richness and diversity of NYC. His multi-faceted career has brought him to prominent venues in Europe, Asia, South America, and across the United States. Matt is a music director, arranger, orchestrator, and keyboardist for “rock popera” sensation Mad Gallica and is a proud member of AFM Local 802, AGMA, and Actors’ Equity.
While he will always be incredibly grateful for his classical music roots, musical theater is his artistic home and where he is most content. Matt holds a doctorate in conducting and makes his home in West Harlem with his partner in all things, soprano, actor, and crossover artist Sophie Amelkin, and Lucy, the sweetest beagle that ever was. He fancies himself a pretty good cook.
