Elijah McCormack, male soprano, performs concerts and operas across the United States, garnering praise for his “fresh timbre” (South Florida Classical Review) and “expressive sophistication” (Dallas Morning News). He was recently awarded the Meyerson/Zanger Award for second place in the Oratorio Society of New York’s Lyndon Woodside Solo Competition. He has performed as a soloist and ensemble member with organizations such as Seraphic Fire, Washington Bach Consort, Dallas Bach Society, The Crossing, American Bach Soloists, and Ensemble Altera. Opera credits include Haymarket Opera’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (Amore/Valletto), IlluminArts Miami’s The Turn of the Screw (Miles), and Lowell House Opera’s world premiere of NIGHTTOWN (Bell* Cohen). He was a finalist in the Grand Rapids Symphony’s Keller Distinguished Bach Musician Award, and a semifinalist in the Poeme Harmonique Corneille Baroque competition. He received his Master's degree in Historical Performance at Indiana University, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art at Skidmore College.
